My Teeth Hurt
Seriously, I want to clone myself, make myself microscopic, go inside my body and go Chuck Norris on this virus that is messing my shit up.
Lord have mercy.
I had grand plans to go shopping today. Included on the list were tissues with lotion and some kind of cold remedy. It's raining and I am going nowhere. I am made of sugar after all. I will melt!
And for real, my teeth do hurt. Ah! My Sinus.
We used to watch The Jungle Book all the time in college. each of us related best or was represented well by each of the characters. It was interesting. One was really silly and laid back, like Baloo. One super graceful, like Bageera, the panther.
I was the clumsy stealth machine known as Kaa, the snake. It was almost painful to watch. He's all slick and trying to be seductive or sneaky and inevitably something goes wrong and his plan is thwarted. Usually, he falls or smacks his head and is all "my sinus" which I full on relate to. I used to have issues, being a smoker and all.
I still have issues apparently. Ugh. I am such a cry baby sometimes. but I'll get over it. You know why? Because really I am:
That's right.
I do not usually pose questions, but I am such a fan of nostalgia. What were some favorite cartoon characters? I was a huge fan of Loony Tunes. I am sure that is where I get some of my sense of humor and love of Wagner. I mean, what a brilliant way to introduce classical music and intelligent adult humor to children. Elmer Fudd singing "kill the rabbit" to the tune of Flight of the Valkaries...come on.

I will love Bugs Bunny and his sarcasm forever. Tom and Jerry is another fav. My children's lives are poorer for the crap they have on TV today.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Kids have no fun cartoons to watch anymore. There was Animaniacs around for a bit - which I bet your smarty pants kids would LOVE. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI may have mentioned this before, but I find it so interesting. My niece and nephew found my Mad Magazine board game and had the most fun ever playing it. Silliness needs to happen in childhood. They have nothing like that now. It's all emotionless and electronic.
Looney Tunes forever my friend!!
Okay! First, I am sorry you've been ill! Hurry and get better!
ReplyDeleteNow, I was a huge Scooby fan. And yeah, Looney Tunes. I loved Tom and Jerry, but not when they talked. That creeped me out.
Then my sister was born and I got hooked on Gem. She was truly, truly, truly outrageous.
And the Wonder Twins! Activate those powers, kids.
Now, I do love me some anime. But I am like a totally picky ass about it, so maybe I should think about branching out. Nah, nevermind. And can we get a spell check option for when I comment?
OMG - JEM!! Synergize! Good one Bubbles.
ReplyDeleteWe are the Misfits, our songs are better.
I love Jem!!
Yeah, it makes sense that we all like Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes because we all "get" each other as well. I admit I loved when jerry would do the sexy french voice or when he sang "Is you is or is you ain't my baby, baby" loved it.
Thanks for the well wishes. My nose is full on RED. And I do not mean Atlanta. I think I may have to move out to CA. This humidity does not make my sinuses happy.
I'm sorry you're still under the weather, sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteI too loved Loony Tunes and Tom and Jerry. Scooby Doo was also a favorite. I was into the super hero and sci-fi adventure cartoons. Spider-Man and Johnny Quest were high on my list.
The crap they make these days is poorly animated, not funny, and doesn't present stories that inspire. I'm not sure what happened, but I do know that my friends who have kids don't watch cartoons with them the way my parents sometimes did with my brother and me.
It's so sad to hear you're having sinus problems. Please, please see a doctor! There is help available.
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite was Pepe Le Pew, but I really liked Top Cat too. Those may have been before your time and a tad romantic for you, but I was a foolish child.
Be well my friend.
Ok, if you move to CA, and you want me to take over your apartment in Chicago...say the word. ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad I found you here...missed you at the other place u blog.
ReplyDeleteMac - there is nothing fun for kids to watch, let alone parents and kids. Except the Simpsons maybe.
ReplyDeleteAlicia - so good to see you! I loved Pepe!! I loved how that poor black cat ended up with a stripe and how hard he courted her. I also loved Top Cat. He was the coolest.
ReplyDeleteBubbles - you got it. This place is great. Renovated vintage, 10 ft ceiling, central heart/air. And cute neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteSee you in June right? Maybe we'll come up here.
ANON - thank you for visiting; I hope you stick around here as well. Wish I knew who you were...
ReplyDeleteAh! Pack! Thanks for visiting!!
